It’s Monsoon Awareness Week, and today’s weather topic is lightning! Many of us in the American Southwest look forward to the monsoon. After all, this season is when many of us receive a large portion of our yearly rainfall. However, as thunderstorms develop over the region, they can often bring more than just rain during the monsoon. With thunderstorms comes the risk of lightning, which can be deadly.
So, today we’re reviewing some common myths and misconceptions about lightning. That’s right! It’s National Weather Service Mythbusters: Lightning Edition!

    Change the title to "Mostly Albuquerque Weather", please. Raton, is about as North as you get in NM. We don't even have our own weather report! We get Taos'. Taos is about sixty miles away, the weather is totally different, and we have a larger population! Ridiculous!

    I've had to attend to appointments during the last 10 days or so, and I've managed to miss poor weather. Not today, I guess! With all the wind, should I take and possibly lose an umbrella? But I can't be much upset about spring rains, and they may miss Albq anyhow... thanks for the warnings!
